The drive to be perfect affects many of us. Often driven from a critical internal voice, perfectionism costs us in our relationships, work environments, and personal lives. Existing under such pressure can also increase symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger, and other mental health challenges. Therapy can help you zoom out, understand where your relationship with perfectionism began, and work to approach your inner critic with more kindness and compassion.

Depression can be an isolating and stubborn experience. Many clients that struggle with mood instability or depression find me after trying many other skills based therapies and not seeing their desired change. My insight oriented approach to depression allows us to understand the function of your mood for you and work to understand why it functions that way. By going into the roots of your mood instability, you can feel seen, empowered, and supportive in the highs and lows of mood changes.

Therapy can be a transformational tool in periods of transitions. It could be a career change, new phase of a romantic relationship, stages of parenthood, health changes, or other major milestones. Therapy can serve as a space to sort through any feelings, questions, or pain points in these transitions as they are often periods of great self discovery..  Together we can celebrate the wins, weather the losses, and help you find your way through.

Anxiety occurs when our bodies and brains are working really hard to keep up safe from a perceived threat. Sometimes, that anxiety is really helpful in keeping us safe. But sometimes, when our anxiety is too strong for the reality of what we are facing, it can feel exhausting and demanding. Head spinning, Thoughts racing. Chest pain. Nausea. Fidgeting. Sweating. All of these are symptoms of anxiety. Whether anxiety is a long term part of your life or a newer experience, we can work to understand its roots, learn skills to cope, and make sustained progress in decreasing its intensity.

You may be questioning your identity, fully secure in who you are, going through transition, or elsewhere on the identity spectrum. No matter what stage you are at with your gender and sexual identities, there is a space for you in therapy. I often see members of the LGBTQ+ community in my practice seeking support in dating, familial relationships, gender transitions, identity exploration, coming out, self exploration. In the therapy space we can make space for all parts of you and support you in living your most authentic life.

Entering therapy to process past or recent traumatic experiences is a brave step forward. You and I will take our work at the pace that makes you feel the most comfortable and work first to build a relationship based on safety. In our time together, we will understand how to integrate this part of your story into your life in to manage its impacts and allow you to flourish in your healing.

Navigating post-grad life, changing relationships, family dynamics, and identity questions can be an isolating and overwhelming space for many individuals.
